Open beta starts September 22

Proto Studio opens to everyone at noon Eastern on Tuesday, September 22, 2026. Here is what ships with it, and what does not.

Proto Studio's open beta starts at noon Eastern on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, the first day of fall. Anyone can sign up and start building that day.

As professional builders, we have spent years creating the platform we always wished we had for building and launching websites and web applications. We poured decades of experience launching and scaling websites, online platforms, and eCommerce businesses into Proto Studio so you can get great results without becoming an expert in design, software engineering, or operations.

Our mission is to empower anyone, regardless of technical skills, to build amazing products safely and quickly with the best no-code tools and serverless cloud products available.

When the gates open on September 22, we can't wait to see what you build.

What Proto Studio is

Proto Studio is an application cloud platform that combines AI agents with visual, drag-and-drop tools to let anyone build real products.

It has the tools you need to build and launch everything from simple websites to complex enterprise web applications without having to know how to code or manage servers. Unlike coding agents and "vibe coding," Proto Studio is no-code by design. That makes it easier to use, safer to operate, and more cost-effective because you aren't generating and maintaining a codebase behind the scenes.

Describe what you want to build and see the results right away. Working products, not mocks or prototypes.

Some of the things you can build with Proto Studio include:

  • Websites
  • Web applications
  • B2B products
  • Dashboards
  • APIs
  • AI agents
  • Process automations
  • eCommerce websites
  • And more

We handle hosting, scaling, and security on an application cloud built specifically for projects built with Proto Studio.

And you can do all of this without writing code. Five AI agents split the work between them, each trained with industry knowledge and best practices.

  • The Project Manager

Gathers requirements and coordinates the team.

  • The Architect

Builds secure, scalable, and maintainable infrastructure.

  • The Designer

Crafts brand identity and user experience.

  • The Analyst

    Turns data into insights.

  • The QA Engineer

    Ensures high quality and reliability.

We can't wait to see what you build.

What ships in the beta

We know the word "beta" carries baggage. Projects built on Proto Studio during the beta are not demos or prototypes. They are ready for real production use.

Everything below ships on day one. Together, these products give you what you need to build and launch most websites, web applications, AI agents, and automations. And we will keep adding features throughout the beta and beyond.

Build websites and webpages. Build visually with a drag-and-drop page editor and see your changes in real time. It includes features you would expect from premium page builders, including brand identity, reusable components, and content management. When you're ready to launch, deploy directly to the Proto Studio cloud without writing code or configuring a server.

User registration and management are baked in. Every Proto Studio project can have professional-level authentication from day one. Even simple apps can offer features like social login, user management, and multifactor authentication without you having to build them yourself. Proto Studio is also compatible with OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect, the two leading standards for web authentication, making it easy to integrate your projects with compatible third-party services.

  • OAuth 2.0
  • OpenID Connect

AI agents are built in. Use our agents or build your own. Agents built on Proto Studio can use advanced techniques including skills, tool use, sub-agents, and evaluations without you having to build or configure the infrastructure behind them. More advanced users can work directly with MCP and APIs, and dial in their agents' cost and performance. Models from more than 10 labs are available, including Anthropic, OpenAI, Meta, and Mistral.

Store everything your project needs. Relational databases handle the things you work with every day, like customers, orders, and content. Time-series databases store metrics and history. File buckets handle uploads with per-bucket rules controlling who can see what. You lay out your data visually, and Proto Studio handles scaling, storage, and access control behind the scenes.

Programmable without programming. Proto Studio is extensible with Orbital, our JavaScript runtime built for the Proto Studio cloud. It lets you customize almost every aspect of your projects, including custom API logic, AI tools, and advanced access control. Most users won't need to write these functions themselves: our AI agents can write and test Orbital functions for you. But when you want to take control, the code is there.

Automation when you need it. Schedule work for later, build multistep workflows, stream events to a customer's browser or from machine to machine, and run AI agents when events happen. Your projects can react to things as they happen, even while you sleep.

Send email that looks great everywhere. Build emails with the same drag-and-drop editor and AI agents you use for building websites, create reusable templates, and see a complete delivery history so you know exactly what went out. Designing emails that look great everywhere is notoriously hard. Proto Studio makes it easy.

Launch your ideas. Give your project a custom domain and add payments to turn what you built into a real business.

Code when you need it. We love developers. Every feature in Proto Studio is accessible through an Application Programming Interface (API), and every project built with Proto Studio has APIs by default. SDKs and a command-line tool ship with the beta, and our developer portal will continue to grow to help developers make the most of the platform. Most people will never need to touch code, but if you know how, Proto Studio doesn't get in your way.

What is not in the beta

Native mobile app building is not included at launch. We are working on it now and expect it by the end of Q4 2026, a few months into the beta.

Pricing, features, and limits may still change before September 22 and while the beta runs. We do not have an end date for the beta yet, and we will announce one here as soon as we pick it.

And, of course, we'll be working diligently to fix bugs as quickly as we can when they come up.

What you can already do today

The beta is a month away, but there are a few things you can do right now.

Explore our open source projects. The Proto Studio team uses Go to build high-performance applications. We've open sourced some of the tools we've built along the way, including Orbital and ProtoValidate. Those two are just a start. You can find the rest on GitHub.
